Google is know for their advanced search algorithms that keep SEO agents and techies on their toes. But lately, Google’s updated search method has been keeping other social media websites on their toes. Google’s new program, “Google Plus Your World” puts results for Google+ pages above sometimes more relevant pages like those on other social networks.

“We created a tool that uses Google’s own relevance measure—the ranking of their organic search results—to determine what social content should appear in the areas where Google+ results are currently hardcoded,” the site explaining the proof of concept says.

Another site called “Focus on the User” has surfaced that allows internet users with an alternative to Google Plus Your World.

“We created a tool that uses Google’s own relevance measure—the ranking of their organic search results—to determine what social content should appear in the areas where Google+ results are currently hardcoded.”

For public figures and marketing people, it might make sense to put more effort into Google+ profiles from now on. What do you think of these changes? Is ranking Google+ profiles over other relevant information fair?
